Tattoo Aftercare Guide
Removing the Second Skin Film
The second skin film is used to protect your tattoo from external irritation and infection during the initial healing period.
However, it is not essential for everyone, and depending on your skin type or sensitivity, it may sometimes cause discomfort or an allergic reaction.
If you experience itching, rashes, stinging, or pain, please remove the film immediately.
To remove it, gently peel it off under lukewarm running water using mild soap. Avoid using high pressure and take your time.
Once removed, gently dab away any residue or plasma using a clean, soft cloth or pad.
If any stickiness remains, rinse again with lukewarm water and pat dry gently without rubbing.
After Removing the Film
Apply a tattoo aftercare cream or Bepanthen 3 to 4 times a day in a thin layer.
Avoid applying too much at once, as it can prevent the skin from breathing.
Keeping the area moisturised is important to avoid dryness, so feel free to reapply as needed throughout the day.
Between days 3 and 6, you may notice light peeling or flaking. This is a natural part of the healing process.
Please do not scratch or pick at the tattooed area.
Taking extra care during the first 1–2 weeks helps reduce inflammation and allows the colours to heal more evenly and vibrantly.
🚫 Things to Avoid (1–2 Weeks)
- • Alcohol
- • Intense physical activity
- • Saunas, hot baths, and swimming
- • Scrubbing, exfoliating, or shaving over the tattoo
Your skin’s natural healing cycle takes around 28 days, so full recovery may take up to a month.
After It’s Fully Healed
Once your tattoo is fully healed, apply sunscreen regularly for 1 to 3 months, especially if the area is exposed to sunlight.
Protecting the tattoo from UV exposure helps maintain the vibrancy of watercolor tattoos over time.
A tattoo is a collaborative work — from the first idea to full healing.
Thank you for taking such good care of it.
